Granite tiles are available in a wide range of colors and styles, making it easy to find one that will complement your kitchen décor. They’re also much less expensive than solid granite countertops, costing as little as $10 per square foot.

Installing granite tiles is a relatively easy do-it-yourself project. The first step is to measure the area where the tiles will be installed and calculate the number of tiles you’ll need. It’s important to allow for a slight overhang of the tiles beyond the edge of the countertop.

Next, use a level to draw reference lines on the countertop. This will ensure that your tiles are installed evenly. Apply mortar to the countertop, spreading it with a notched trowel. Start at the back of the countertop and work your way forward.

Now it’s time to start laying the tiles. Begin in the middle of the countertop and work your way out. Use a damp sponge to clean off any mortar that gets on the face of the tiles. Once all the tiles are in place, allow the mortar to cure for 24 hours before grouting.

To grout, the tiles, mix the grout according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Spread it over the tiles with a rubber float, working it into the joints. Use a damp sponge to remove any excess grout. Allow the grout to cure for 24 hours before using the countertop.

With a little time and effort, you can install granite tiles yourself and achieve the look of a high-end countertop at a fraction of the cost.
